Weekend and work
Jun. 15th, 2010 08:28 pmWent to Cambridge to see
prosepina and
maracacha and to catch up with AOD,
fisle,
educatedpork, Timbo Stuntbowie and Kit Kat the Cunning Czech Ceramicist. A good time was had by all: cycling through glorious countryside (20miles on Saturday, count 'em! also jelly legs, feel 'em!), almost falling in rivers, quaffing champagne, snarfing burgers and cream teas and generally being louche.
This week at work has kicked off bonkers, I'm already back up to 3hours TOIL after clearing it on Friday. Tomorrow is my first ever proper on-call shift, so that's bound to be fun. Still no official list of corrections for thesis which sucks, as I have to have done corrections, printed, bound and submitted to the exam committee by July 2nd in order to make summer graduation.
Tonight I am supposed to be working on an invited review for the Journal of Pathology but I am just too zonked: already sat here in my PJs.
Meh, adulthood's rubbish.
On the plus side I saw my first ever bona fide verruca under the microscope this week (and misidentified it as a possible verrucous carcinoma, oops). I've never seen a verruca at histology before, and they're quite spectacular. The viral infection produces gigantic keratohyalin granules that mimic acantholysis pretty convincingly, and the infection causes horrific-looking nuclear pleomorphism (at least it did in this case). Still, rookie error.
