Yesterday I finally saw the audiologist for full vestibular (inner ear) function testing. They did full hearing range testing as well as testing the vestibular-oculomotor system: saccades and smooth pursuit using VNG and bithermal calorics using ENG. This was pretty exciting (and totally nauseating) stuff.
( In which I have water poured in my ears, get shut in sound-proof rooms and stare deep into a cylon's eye )
So there you have it, I am excitingly broken and the vestibular-oculomotor system is complicated stuff. However, I am about to have customised rehab (OOH GET ME!) and should be better within 3-6months. I also definitely don't have Meniere's or Myasthenia gravis, both of which are Good Things. Looks like I had idiopathic acute labyrinthitis that I'm suppressing symptoms of too well which means my oculomotor system isn't compensating like it oughta.
