...green necklace is amended and I'm much happier with it now.

Think I'm too tired to graph the squid right now, so I'm going to go to bed and finish the Guardian Cryptic. Only two more clues to go! If I complete this one that'll be all of this week's so far.

you think *I* have a clue?!

Mostly it's stabbing in the dark AKA research. Hopefully sometime within the next six months (when I have to hand in my thesis) I should have SOME clue.

I have similar feelings when Dave talks to me about his hobby electronics. I understand about 10% of it and the rest of me is going WHOAH COOL (what's he mean?!)

gah I am rambling

You seem to be able to use technical terms fluently though! I assumed that cos you're a scientist you aren't bullshitting at least 50% of it like those of us who did arts degrees are...!

My favourite tutor EVER (who unfortunately left before the beginning of my final year) gave me some invaluable advice for Art Situations a couple of years ago:

"If you are in a situation when you have to give an opinion, but don't know what you're talking about, say something - anything - with conviction. If you believe that you believe it, so will everyone else."

I do know what you mean though; the computer stuff J talks about more often than not gets a 'aah, cool' and a smile...!
