Continuing insomnia

If yesterday was Blue Monday, then today is Thesis-less Tuesday. After another night of almost no sleep, I tried in vain to sleep this morning instead. Although that's not strictly the case; more that I tried to wake up and failed to do so convincingly so just lay there hoping for unconsciousness to supervene for the entire morning. To stave off potentially impending depression, which I simply do not have time for, I took the opportunity of a head too muzzy to read and got going with my first beetle commission. This one was for a guitarist, can you tell?

Carabus melodius

This time: watercolour pencil, opaque and metallic inks, collage. I like the velvety texture from the pencil, makes the collage blend in a lot more.

At least it's sunny out now, what a difference that makes! :D

I really love your beetle drawings.
May be a bit niche, but I could totally imagine a publioshed book of them - like a more entymological Brian Froud type thing.

Somebody else suggested that too, but I think the costs of getting it done would be prohibitive >_<
Also, I might well get fed up after #10 and a 10-page book would be a bit rubbish!

Glad to hear your gig went well btw and am still holding my breath re: your big news!

Maybe shove them online somewhere and charge per print or sommat.
So long as you use a place that doesn't have setup costs, you lose nothing and potentially have the pleasure of knowing that some of your stuff is on people's walls.
I'd buy one (depending on cost and budget of course).

thanks :D
how do you find selling on Etsy, by the way?

Selling on Etsy is challenging

Pros: love the site design and how easy it is to set up shop, shop fees are reasonable

Cons: with the high # of sellers, it's hard to get noticed and people to buy when there's so much selection! Doesn't help that your items get bumped down in search listings because of the THOUSANDS of items being listed everyday.

Overall I just hope to sell 1 thing a week... that would make me so happy :p
