A very good time had by all at Gark Villas at the now-annual Americas Brunch. Happy birthday nmg and thanks ias and garklet for food, entertainment and expostulations of "PIRATE SOCKS!". Sadly, some naughty blueberry seed seems to have lodged between my teeth and set off my grumbly abscess again.

Without an NHS dentist (still), the only real solution was The Internet TM. After perusing cures comprised of cloves, bicarb and salt poultices, whiskey, pliers and prayer, I thought it was probably just as logical to charm it away with a beetle:



Bizarrely, it seems to have worked. However, I think I'll break out the Jura, just in case...

Drawing kept it at bay for a while, and now the whisky seems to have soothed the savage beast! Lets hope it stays dormant a while..

fwiw, we've been using an NHS dentist on the Hill Lane end of Burgess Road (Brighter Smiles).

I think Gnommi's problem isn't findng a dentist (this is one of those boring Daily Mail talking points - we aren't really that short of dentists) so much as getting one she can work with. Dr Manek that Chris and I visit is full, but if he wasn't it wouldn't help Gnommi because his attitude to pain management won't fly with her. She needs someone sympathetic.
