...so I need someplace to go to head off an imminent breakdown/flip/emo period/mid-life crisis for a week. Need some time to myself to have a proper think about where all this stuff is going.

Anyone have any ideas where might be conducive to pondering? Criteria as follows:

1. Must be cheap(ish), preferably under £200 for a week or so, to include transport and accommodation
2. Must be stress-free (i.e. not tempt me to try and go to every inaccessible weird landmark in two days)
3. Must have NO INTERNET ACCESS and preferably no phone signal
4. Clement weather negotiable

I was wondering about the Isle of Man? Any suggestions? G'wan....

Well it's yours if you want it. Would £125 be OK of you're interested? It's in West Wight so no chance of distraction - just lovely walks and pretty beaches. And it's the last house in a lane with fields on 2 sides.

Let me know...:)

yeah, i am ok for now, but things are getting a bit creaky and i need to clear some headspace a bit to plot some kind of course or i'm gonna end up drifting in a thoroughly non-constructive manner.

your shed looks nice, and i whacked nails in it and eeeeeverything! *proud*

My house. I'll let you stay for free, feed you, and not let you anywhere near the internet.

that's a shiny shiny offer, but i have this kinda feeling that i can't get there for £200 :D

I watched this um.. interesting horror film last night "The Dark" which had an amaaaazing setting in the Isle Of Man so I am gonna see if I can get there ^_^

Failing that, the IzzleOvWijjit maybe?

The Isle of Whatnow?

My grasp of British channel islands is a bit tenuous these days, though, if things continue around here apace, I may be joining you in your exile.

The Isle of Wight happens to be really actually quite near where I live on the South Coast. In fact if I was *much* fitter, I might even be able to swim there, if I didn't mind getting run down by the odd container ship.

The Isle of Man is a bit further north, above Wales just off the West Coast. Scilly Isles are off the far southwest (West of Cornwall). Orkneys, Hebrides etc etc are waaaaay north off Scotland. Channel Islands are actually nearer France and are Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney, Sark and maybe some others that I forgot.

Here have a Wikipedia Geography lesson on me!

Very remote, very beautiful although probably cold. Not expensive to get to. I think flights from Soton.

You okay? Am off to Memphis on Tuesday but ring/txt me anytime.

yeah, i'm not so bad, just can feel a certain mental state coming on and this time i am gonna head it off at the pass rather than being bitten in the ass by it! =D

Orkneys would be lovely

If you can, try the Scilly Islands. Bit of a hike, but worth it - extra quiet, very little to do apart from walk, and eat fresh fish. Might drive you crazy after a week or so.

Under those circumstances, I'd head to Exmouth. It's in the middle of nowhere and so dirt cheap and there's nobody to get in your way, there's a lot fo nice hills for walking on in easy distance, and there's an amusement arcade on the front which hasn't seen a new arcade game in since 1995. It's like heaven.

You can stay at my parents' house for free.
Room to yourself - I'll be busy with studying.
Nice big garden and 5 minute walk to beach.
Net access is prohibitively slow (avg. 36kbps) and there is a cool dog to play with.
Offer's there - all you'd need to buy is a flight.
