...at a glam rock disco in our local bonkers pub, The Dolphin Inn. The company was most definitely A-team, the music nicely eclectic and the weather patriotically damp. When we trooped into the rain at midnight to set off party poppers and murder Auld Lang Syne, most of the string dissolved and we ended up just thowing streamers at each other under some desultory fireworks partially lost in the gloom.

The closing song was The Ace of Spades, and saluting a youthful Lemmy on the big screen (the DJ showed Old Grey Whistle test performances along with the songs as he played them), we tramped damply home into the waiting maw of 2008.

When the fateful toss was made, I chose tails for an upturn in fortune in the New Year. It was heads.

i moped last year, so i said bollocks to that this year and went and Moderately Partied with a bunch of diverse oddballs
