I just came face to face with a rather confused specimen of the Southern Hill Mynah variety in my garden just now. Here he is; all wattles and glossy plumage. A better picture of the beastie in question is here.

He mewed at me like a cat a few times, so I gave him some dried fruit and branflakes, which he troughed like a starving creature. Whereupon, he made a noise like a telephone, then got startled away by the postman. Wonder where the hell he came from? I quite liked him really.

Edit: well he's back now, eating dried strawberries and occasionally stropping his enormous orange beak on the manhole cover.

O_o

Not sure if I'd be more curious or scared if I met that thing!

there was a fox in our garden recently which did that to me.

well, i think it was looking to try and see if it could FIND my soul. i don't think it was successful..

i realised a bit later that this thing has no binocular vision either, so it has to look with one eye and then the other!

it doesn't help!

yeah he's clearly not used to being outside, he's pretty hopeless.
I've chopped up some apple and banana and left some water out on the shed roof, hope that he stays up there away from the neighbourhood cats.

he tried to come in the bathroom window earlier... there's a pigeon-sized hole in the side of the shed, dunno if he can get in if he needs shelter

i don't really know how to be of assistance! i've gone all mumsy

Is it still there?

You could call the rspca and get someone to collect him (its 03001234999 btw :) )
