Courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] mikej and [livejournal.com profile] queen_of_scum amongst others, I've discovered quite a few cool new things (well, to me) this week. In no particular order, I am loving:

1. Last.FM
2. Codex Seraphinianus
3. Waitrose Own Plain Belgian Chocolate with Fruit and Nuts
4. Venetian Snares
5. Listening to Lustmord in the dark
6. Re-reading Jung's Man And His Symbols and WH Hodgson's Carnacki The Ghost Finder (OK this doesn't count as a new discovery, but it's a thing I'm liking at the moment. OK? Good.)

Just thought I'd share!

I AM TAKING QUITE LARGE LIBERTIES IN POSTING ARBITRARILY ON FRIENDS-OF-FRIENDS' LIVEJOURNALS BUT I FELT IT NECESSARY TO CELEBRATE THE EXISTENCE OF SOMEONE ELSE WHO APPRECIATES QUITE HOW STUNNINGLY COOL THE CODEX SERAPHINIANUS IS

OH WELL I AM WORKING ON THAT ONE

I ASSURE YOU THAT SHOULD I FIND SUCCESS WITH MY NEFARIOUS SCHEMES FOR WORLD DOMINATION I WILL POST ALL ABOUT IT ON MY LIVEJOURNAL

WHILE YOU ARE SURE TO HEAR ABOUT IT THROUGH OTHER MEANS FIRST I BELIEVE THAT A NEWS BROADCAST BY THE BBC WILL CONTAIN LESS WIT AND WISDOM THAN MY LIVEJOURNAL POST ON THE SUBJECT

IT WOULD ALSO CONTAIN LESS OF THE REPEATED REQUESTS FOR SEXUAL RELATIONS

BUT NO WORRIES, RIGHT

ALSO IF YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS ABOUT WHERE ON THE INTERNET TO PUT MY 148 MB HIGH-RESOLUTION COPY OF THE CODEX (EACH PAGE IN 1272x1754) THEN I SHALL BE HAPPY TO UPLOAD IT

The link that I posted in the entry is to an uploaded scanned copy in slideshow format at FLICKR. I'm not sure if it is the whole volume though? I know that the Codex has been released in both one and two volume format

p.s. I am jealous! The cheapest copy I could find is around £300

THAT IS INDEED THE WHOLE VOLUME (THE ORIGINAL RAN TO 369 PAGES BUT 13 WERE BLANK) AND I AM CURRENTLY ATTEMPTING TO FURTHER THESE ACTS OF PIRACY

UNFORTUNATELY THE WEBSPACE TO WHICH I HAVE ACCESS IS ALREADY QUITE FULL WITH HOME-MADE MUSIC VIDEOS, CARTOONS AND SUCHLIKE AND THEREFORE DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH SPACE TO FIT THE CODEX; I ALSO HAVE NO IMMEDIATE MEANS OF DIRECT INFORMATION TRANSFER

P.S. ANOTHER OF MY FEATURES ALONG WITH AN INSATIABLE SEXUAL APPETITE AND A DESIRE TO CONQUER WORLDS IS A LOVE OF THE MUSICAL WORKS OF MR. MIKE OLDFIELD; IF THE THINGS YOU LISTED IN YOUR POST ARE NOT ENOUGH TO BE GOING ON WITH I SUGGEST ACQUIRING AND LISTENING TO HIS MUSIC

IT IS QUITE AWESOME

DAMNED RIGHT

HOWEVER AFTER HAVING LISTENED TO MY ENTIRE 50-HOUR MIKE OLDFIELD COLLECTION RIGHT THROUGH I PERSONALLY FIND MY FAVOURITE TRACK TO BE THE ALBUM VERSION OF "THE BELL" FROM TUBULAR BELLS 2 IN WHICH MR. ALAN RICKMAN ANNOUNCES THE INCREASINGLY SILLY INSTRUMENTS

YOU CAN HEAR EVERY CONSONANT AND VOWEL ENUNCIATED PERFECTLY

GRAND PIANO
REED AND PIPE ORGAN
GLOCKENSPIEL
BASS GUITAR
VOCAL CHORDS
TWO SLIGHTLY SAMPLED ELECTRIC GUITARS
DIGITAL SOUND PROCESSOR
THE VENETIAN EFFECT
AND... TUBULAR... BELLS

... BUT I DIGRESS

I HAVE ATTEMPTED RAPIDSHARE AND FOUND IT TO HAVE A 100 MB LIMIT, DITTO MEGAUPLOAD; I HAVE NO MSN ADDRESS TO SEND IT TO AND ANYWAY MSN'S FILE TRANSFER PROTOCOLS MAKE BABY CHARLES BABBAGE CRY; NO FURTHER WEBSPACE IS FORTHCOMING

I CONFESS THAT I AM OUT OF IDEAS

I AM ABOUT TO ADD THIS

NOTE THAT THE NAME IN QUESTION MAY BELONG TO A SCIENTIST AND NOT A GIANT WARP MONSTER AS WE WOULD NOT WANT TO GO ABOUT FRIGHTENING THE REST OF MY CONTACT LIST, NOW WOULD WE

Oo, I'd love to have a copy of those images - if you could email them to my gmail, I'll put them up online and give you a link. Would that be ok?

I've had Venetian Snares sat on my amazon wish list for some time now, due to recommendations and stuff I heard on teh w3bs.
I may well go ahead and purchase next time I'm solvent.

teh RoxX0r. My chums are getting heartily sick of me ripping off MR James for Call of Cthulhu, so a new source will be just dandy.

Last.FM FTW!

This could get seriously expensive if my current tendency to impulse buy albums having heard a track there goes on. Those guys in the record industry can be cunning fiends when they stop fearing technology, and start twisting it to their evil ends.
